From There to Here

A dusty wind swept across the old highway as Ohma drove, her hands tight on the wheel. She hadn’t seen her hometown in over a decade. Memories flickered like broken film—her brother's laughter, the scent of summer rains, the abandoned house that had once been a home.

She pulled up to the familiar corner, the one where they used to race bicycles under the stars. The town had changed, but something about it felt the same island.

At the park, an elderly man sat on the same bench her father once did. His eyes met hers, and she saw the same sorrow, the same hope.

"Welcome home," he whispered, and for the first time in years, Ohma felt like she belonged.

From there to here, she realized, the journey wasn’t just a return—it was a revelation.
